Five awards were given by Middlesex County Freeholders for 2019 for music, culture, history, theater and visual arts programs run by Perth Amboy nonprofits and government. The Puerto Rican Association for Human Development received $6,000 for cultural programming, Perth Amboy Artworks received $4,000 for the Live at the Ferry Slip Music Series, the Perth Amboy Historic Preservation Commission received $4,500 for an oral history project, The Perth Amboy Dept. of Recreation received $2,8000 for Community Theatre production of Hairspray and PARTNER received $3,000 for a mural. Grant funding was provided from the Middlesex County Cultural and Arts Trust Fund. In total, Middlesex County distributed $1.8 million in grant funds to 102 different cultural and historical programs throughout the County. Major investments were made in New Brunswick, including The State Theatre, Crossroads Theatre, George Street Playhouse, The New Brunswick Cultural Center and the American Repertory Ballet.
