Royal Garden Club Celebrates 25 Years of Community Service to Perth Amboy

Lavender at Perth Amboy Ferry Slip

The Royal Garden Club by the Bay is a volunteer club that maintains 13 gardens for the public to enjoy in Perth Amboy. They are celebrating 25 years of service to our City. Their beautiful gardens are filled with many varieties of flowers and plants, and attract many butterflies, bees, and birds. They have won many awards for their gardens. The club plans the gardens, then works with the Perth Amboy Department of Public Works to order the plantings. Then the club organizes planting and maintenance work parties usually scheduled on weekend mornings. They also hold monthly meetings where they host lectures and presentations on special topics in gardening.

The beautiful gardens they maintain are located on the Historic Perth Amboy Waterfront including the Rock Garden on Front Street next to the Marina (filled with lavender), the Butterfly Garden at the Gazebo, the Veteran’s Memorial Garden on Sadowski Parkway and the Hummingbird Garden at the intersection of Sadowski Parkway and High Street (across from The Butterfly Garden).  They also maintain the beautiful gardens on Historic High St including the Market Square Garden at City Hall Circle, and The Fragrance Garden at City Hall. They also maintain the gardens at Historic Kearny Cottage, including the Girl Scout Youth Garden, The Rose Garden, The Herb Garden and Rosemary’s Garden. They also maintain the Community Garden at Historic St Peter’s Episcopal Church.

To celebrate their “Silver” 25 years of community service, the Royal Garden Club by the Bay is holding a luncheon on Saturday Oct 5th at 11:30am at the Raritan Yacht Club, 160 Water St in Perth Amboy. There will be a special floral design presentation by Joan Kuchie of Kuchie’s Alpine Florist. Tickets are $55 per person. Limited seating is available so please RSVP by  contacting Betty Crews at 848-203-4642 or email blt1901@aol.com.
