Perth Amboy native Jose Batista Ayala is “The Funny Flight Attendant” April 7 at Sangria Lounge

The Funny Flight Attendant

Perth Amboy native Jose Batista Ayala will be performing his one-man show “The Funny Flight Attendant” at Sangria Lounge on State St in Perth Amboy NJ on Sunday April 7, 2019 at 4pm. He is a multi talented performing artist, filmmaker and photographer who has produced his own original works throughout the NY region.

The Funny Flight Attendant comedy show is based on Jose’s real life experiences as a flight attendant. He describes his show as funny storytelling “like Kathy Griffin meets Ellen” he says. Having overcome a fear of flying, he has a perspective that is empowered, curious, positive, spontaneous and sincere. He tells his travel stories in this hilarious 99% true unscripted production.

Jose grew up in Perth Amboy and at age 19 moved to the City, to Washington Heights and then to the Bronx, where he has been constantly creative.

This is his fourth installment of the Funny Flight Attendant and the 7thone-man show he has created. In his shows, he shares a piece of himself and he chose to come back to perform in Perth Amboy to connect with his roots “I enjoy connecting with where I am from, my friends and family are a big part of who I am, and sharing my journey with them is very special” he said.

His website JoseBatistaAyala.com  showcases his impressive creative endeavors such as, “FRiENDAMiGO The Play, DRUNK ON LOVE: A One-Man Variety Show, POETR+OMEDY: A One-Man Dramedy, THE FUNNY FLIGHT ATTENDANT:a one-man show and the documentary-short-film titled TEAM SALSA NUEVA YORK-” among others. He has also traveled extensively through his work as a flight attendant and keeps a great photo travel journal.

Jose is always doing something creative, which he finds very fulfilling. He began being creative and performing at a young age as a salsa dancer and in school plays. In middle school at the Shull School in Perth Amboy, he was the only male on the school dance team. His teacher Ms. Kimmets was in charge of plays and called on him to get involved and told him he was naturally gifted. Her support helped him to build his confidence and his artistic expression became a source of strength as he struggled with his sexuality and coming out. “Art was an outlet for me to be confidently myself” he said.
