Noted journalist Charles Wiley will speak at The Ferry Slip Museum, 300 Front St, on the gorgeous Perth Amboy waterfront on June 22. His topic will cover the intensity of the home front involvement in every facet of life for Americans. You will be captivated by his tales of life in the United States as war was part of the everyday life of every man, woman and child.
Mr. Wiley attempted to enlist in the Marines at the tender age of 15 on the very next morning after Pearl Harbor was attacked. This failed attempt led to his becoming one of our earliest USO performers. He left Broadway at 17 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His military experience is vast and his research on the war both abroad and here at home has spanned 3/4ths of a century.
