February is Black History Month and Perth Amboy is celebrating with music performances, art shows, dance, food and more. Events are being held at the Perth Amboy Public Library, the Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts and PRAHD.
On Saturday Feb 10th from 1-3pm in the Children’s Library, the Friends of the Perth Amboy Library are sponsoring “The Art of Resilience” — a program with Joycelyn Gumbs Alsup with performances by percussionist Victor Marshall and dancer Audrey Davis-Dunning. On Saturday February 17th a Black History Month Celebration takes place from 1-5pm at the Perth Amboy Public Library. The special event will honor and celebrate the diverse black cultures within Perth Amboy. This celebration will be an immersive experience for everyone, showcasing the vibrancy and contributions of the black community.
The event features MC Ron Snipes, Live Music by DJ Lindsey Nicholson, Authentic Black Cuisines, Dance Performances by Cultural Organizations, Spoken Word Poetry, Art Gallery of Black Excellence, Children’s Activities, Games, and Crafts and Live Comedy by Freddie Ricks.

In celebration of Black History Month, the Perth Amboy Gallery Center for the Arts presents their 2024 Black History Month Art Exhibition with opening reception Friday Feb 23 from 6-8pm at 339 Reade St. The exhibit honors Black History Month and highlights New Jersey Black Artists. The Puerto Rican Association for Human Development (PRAHD) will present their 10th Annual Black History Month Celebration on Saturday,February 24th, 2024 from 12-3pm at 100 First Street.
