Fresh Break Down 2025 is presented by Lisa Rosario aka B-Girl Twice. Lisa was born in NYC and moved to Perth Amboy NJ. She began breaking at 7 years old. Now 50, she’s still dancing (a recent video of Lisa dancing on Smith St went viral) and loves sharing the culture. This is her third breaking event in Perth Amboy that she has produced.

Lisa was given her performance name B-Girl Twice (she’s a twin) by her older brother Chip aka DJ Storm, who brought her into the Waterfront Boys who practiced on Brighton Ave. Her brother was her choreographer and “he taught me to always represent.”

She competed as a breakdancer, entering talent and variety shows with her sister (pictured.) Coming correct, looking fresh, are all things she wants to share about breaking culture. “People take it very seriously, practicing and being creative. From fashion to dance to music to art, it’s all part of the culture of breakdancing” she said.

Fresh Break Down will take place at El Clasico Restaurant, 233 New Brunswick Ave in Perth Amboy. Doors are at 6pm and the event is expected to go until 10:30pm. Parking is in the back lot behind the restaurant on Fayette St (entrance to the show as well.) El Clasico is a popular delicious Dominican restaurant with event space in the back.

The competition features “kids 7 to smoke”, when 7 kids get in a circle, and every time it’s their turn “they get to dance their ass off.” Another competition is “open style cypher,” when people throw down and get in the circle and dance. “Dancing is a way to fight back, instead of fighting” said Lisa. “This is a place to come and dance, look fresh and show your skills.”

This past summer Breaking made its debut in the Olympics and Lisa took the day off from work to enjoy the competition. “Unfortunately people made Ray Gun the focus instead Ami the Olympic gold medalist ” she said. She has found dancing to be universal, “wherever I go I get connected to breakers who continue to practice and the culture is thriving.”
