City of Perth Amboy Issues State of Emergency and Announces Executive Orders effective March 16, 2020 to Combat COVID-19.

Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz and the Perth Amboy Office of Emergency Management have declared a State of Emergency and order the following emergency protective measures for residents of Perth Amboy, NJ to combat spread of COVID-19 Coronavirus.

All non-essential and nonfood businesses such as liquor stores, retail, recreational, beauty salons, barbershops and entertainment businesses must close at 8p.m. During business hours, they can remain open if they limit their occupancy to no more than 25 persons and adhere to social distance guidelines.

All restaurant establishments are limited to offering delivery and/or take out-services ONLY. Take out and food delivery services are permitted after 8pm.

Bars are closed until further notice.

All fitness centers and gyms will be closed to the public and remain closed until further notice.

All schools are closed to students and remain closed until further notice.

All gatherings of persons shall be limited to 25 persons or fewer in Perth Amboy, with limited exceptions until further notice.

Essential businesses such as supermarkets, grocery stores, pharmacies, medical offices, and gas stations may remain open past 8p.m. After 8:00 p.m. all non-essential businesses must close until further notice.

Citizens are encouraged to stay home and discouraged from nonessential travel.

Perth Amboy Municipal Court sessions are cancelled until further notice.

Perth Amboy City Hall, and Library are closed to the public. Citizens are encourage to use online services. The City of Perth Amboy website is https://www.perthamboynj.org. All City events and recreation activities are cancelled.

On March 16, 2020 New Jersey Governor Murphy issued a statewide curfew of 8pm for all NJ residents and closed casinos, bars, movie theaters, nightclubs and performing arts centers until further notice. Restaurants can only provide take out. No dine is allowed.
