Perth Amboy holiday decorations were recognized by Patch in their 2023 round up of Best Christmas Lights in Middlesex County, with 329 Silzer Street (pictured) in Perth Amboy appearing on a list of best decorated homes. The homeowner wrote “People are more than welcomed to take pictures of our display. I do this for everyone to enjoy. MERRY CHRISTMAS.”
Luis Canturencia has had his home decorated for Christmas since before Thanksgiving (pictured). Luis explained his motivation for decorating early. “When I came to this country I didn’t live in a house, I lived in one bedroom. There’s one house by McDonalds that every Christmas season is so bright and has a lot Christmas decorations. That house inspired me to make a family and buy a house and to make this dream come true. I decorate not only for Christmas, Halloween and July 4 but also part of the summer in my backyard. Many people ask me why are you decorating so early. Well Christmas is the most beautiful season but its so short. So if you can see Christmas and Thanksgiving are almost the same celebration. One is the thanks the other one is the nativity of Jesus born and Santa, but at the end it makes family’s come together, have a beautiful dinner and hugs and smiles. I share that love with others so my vision is motivate the town to do more. I want to inspire others to decorate.
Recently The City of Perth Amboy launched a holiday decorating contest. All residences and businesses within the City of Perth Amboy are eligible and you must enter the contest by Dec 20th.
