The Perth Amboy HS Swim Team has had a history making season this year, qualifying for the State Championships for the first time. Major statewide competitions take place at our own Raritan Bay YMCA, and Perth Amboy was part of it. They faced off with Elizabeth High School. Perth Amboy team is small, but powerful and dominated the meet, winning first place in all their events. Proud parents cheered, especially Cristina Bolanos, whose 2 sons, who have been swimming since they were 6, won in the 50 free, the 500 free and 3 team relays. Cristina said “Proud is an understatement. They’ve come so far, and this is just the beginning. The sky is the limit when hard work and dedication come together—I know they’re destined for greatness.”
