Samantha Miranda and Bianca Feliciano are local small business owners and creators of Shop the Slip. Proud residents of Perth Amboy, they are passionate about creating spaces that bring the community together. The two creatives recognized the need in the city for an event that could open doors for new creators and small businesses. Something that not only creates in-person sales opportunities, but also builds a strong, supportive community of like-minded people.
With little to no pop-up experience themselves, they took on the challenge of creating something new. Shop the Slip was born, a pop up event offered seasonally at the historic Perth Amboy Ferry Slip. Since launching in 2022, Shop the Slip has grown from just 10 vendors to over 25 curated vendors each season, drawing crowds and creating real buzz locally. The upcoming event on May 9th will kick off Mother’s Day weekend alongside 25 amazing vendors ready to share what they do best.
Samantha Miranda said “I would have to say one of my favorite things about market day is seeing how much our event has grown over the years. From hosting our very first Shop the Slip in 2022 with just 10 vendors, to now welcoming nearly 30, it’s been amazing to watch it evolve into what it is today. But even more meaningful to me is seeing the growth in our vendors. So many come to their first market feeling nervous, and by the end of the day, they’re sharing how incredible the experience was and how supported they felt. Watching that shift in their confidence—and knowing we played even a small part in that is definitely one of my favorite parts of Shop the Slip.
Bianca Feliciano said “I love the energy on market day because that’s when the real sense of community comes to life. Everyone’s moving, connecting, socializing, making sales, and genuinely enjoying themselves. It’s such a beautiful thing to see that our pop-up created the space for that to happen.”
