Proprietary House Holiday Open House Dec 12

The Proprietary House in Perth Amboy is one of New Jersey’s most historic houses and most visited historic sites. The house recently went through a multimillion dollar historic restoration project which won a 2021 NJ Preservation Project Award. The Proprietary House was formerly one of the Royal Governors’ Mansions built in 1762-1764 during the colonial period in the US. The Proprietary House historic restoration was recently profiled in Architect Magazine. The work was made possible by Speaker Coughlin, Senator Vitale and Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez who secured $3million in State funding for the renovations of this historical site. Lisa Nanton, President of the Proprietary Board of Directors, has been a champion of the house, and it was due to her commitment and oversight that the restoration project was completed.

The Proprietary House Association decorates the mansion for the holidays and you can tour the house on Sunday Dec 12 from 1-4pm, learn about its history as well as enjoy refreshments and purchase gifts in the souvenir shop. Admission is free. Its always a great time visiting the Proprietary House.
