From Peregrine Falcons in Bayview Park to Osprey and their nests by the Ameristeel plant and on the top of the Great Beds lighthouse to Bald Eagles flying around near the Landings, the Perth Amboy waterfront has some great bird watching. Photos captured by James Erwin show a bald eagle flying around the waterfront this stormy Wednesday September 28.
Raritan Bay is also home to Swans, Egrets, and Cormorants. Also around Perth Amboy people have seen Red Winged Blackbirds, Hairy Woodpeckers, Cardinals and many more. If you would like to get in on the bird watching action, pick up a copy of the New Jersey Audubon’s pocket “Guide to Some Familiar Birds in New Jersey” and you will be able to start recognizing them.
