Perth Amboy voters sent vote by mail applications from Voter Participation Center

Some Perth Amboy voters have been sent vote by mail applications in the mail, so they can vote by mail in the 2021 NJ general election. The applications are pre-printed with voter information including name and address. The applications are part of the effort by the nonprofit organization called the Voter Participation Center of Washington, D.C. to increase voter participation in elections. The civic engagement group mailed 2.4 million vote by mail applications to New Jersey for the General Election in November.

The mailing from the Voter Participation Center reminds New Jerseyans that voting-by-mail is easy and all they have to do is sign, date, and complete the vote by mail application and place it in the envelope with prepaid postage and drop it in the mail. 79% of voters in NJ cast their ballots before Election day in the 2020 election. Voters can keep doing this in 2021 by returning the application to vote by mail.

The vote by mail applications were sent to young people, people of color and women, many of whom have historically been under-represented in our democracy.

Since it was founded in 2003, the Voter Participation Center has helped 5.7 million people register and cast ballots.
